CODE OF CONDUCT FOR LEARNERS
This document forms part of “Conditions of Acceptance at Faithway College”
1. PREAMBLE
​
The South African Schools Act, No. 84 of 1996; requires all schools to have a code of conduct for learners. Parents, educators and learners are required to participate actively in the compilation of this code of conduct.
The aim of this code of conduct is:

To ensure fair and equal treatment of all learners
-
To encourage timely corrective action, in the event that a pupil’s behaviour or performance proves unsatisfactory or unacceptable.

To inculcate behavioural principles and practices that contributes to the total positive development of the learner in all areas
-
To ensure that principles of natural justice are applied before a pupil is punished.

4. AIM OF THIS CODE OF CONDUCT

5. POLICY REGARDING THE CONDUCT OF A FAITHWAY COLLEGE LEARNER
​
Addendum A: deals with the conduct required from a learner of FAITHWAY COLLEGE to establish an orderly school environment.
This conduct deals with behaviour and appearance.
Addendum B: deals with levels of misconduct and appropriate disciplinary measures.
Addendum C: deals with measures of acknowledging achievements and progress in the fields of academics and behaviour.

6. RESPONSIBILITIES OF PARENTS / GUARDIANS WITH RESPECT TO THE CODE OF CONDUCT
Parents / Guardians are ultimately responsible for children’s behaviour. Parents / guardians work in partnership with the school:

By supporting the code of conduct and ensuring that their children comply with it accordingly
-
By ensuring that their children accept responsibility for any misbehaviour on their part
-
By helping to achieve a sound academic standard by taking an active interest in their children’s schoolwork
Parents / Guardians support the school by:
-
The timeous payment of school fees
-
A prompt response to all correspondence
-
The attendance of meetings convened for them by the school and Governing Body.
